Finish Care Guide |
Modern car finishes offer a lot more protection with a lot less
maintenance.
Single coat finishes are now much more durable, and most new factory finishes
have a tough clearcoat which brings out the brilliance of the color while protecting
it against sun, water, wind and dirt. |
DuPont refinishing systems offer this same outstanding performance, and
with
a little care, your new DuPont finish will reward you with many years of
"eye-catching" beauty. |
- Park in a garage or under a roof whenever possible.
- Avoid parking under trees, as sap and bird droppings may damage the
finish. Remove these substances as soon as possible by rinsing with water
(use a mild soap if necessary).
- Wash the vehicle frequently, preferably by hand. Avoid car washes
with hard brushes. During the first 30 days, when the paint is especially
fresh, clean the car with a water rinse only. For heavy soils, use a mild
liquid soap or specially designed car wash. In winter, wash your car with
warm water; in summer, wash in the shade with cold water.
- Do not wipe your car with a dry cloth. Always use water.
- Do not allow spilled gasoline, anti-freeze or windshield washer fluid
to
stand on the surface of the paint - remove immediately by rinsing with water.
- Do not wax for the first 60 days.
- Ice and snow should be brushed, not scraped, off.
- Paint nicks should be touched up immediately to protect against
rusting.
